INDIGENAS
Indigena TimotoCuica
te he sentido en mis pies
te he sentido en mi espiritu
y en mi sangre tambien.
Desde la Cresta del Gallo
he podido contemplar
a la tribu los Axaguas
que no paran de bailar.
Y los niños, y los niños
que ahora avanzan
caminando ya los veo
mas alegres, no conocen
mas el llanto.
Y las madres, y las madres
ahora estan recolectando
el fruto de la cosecha
que todo el pueblo ha
sembrado.
Y los padres, y los padres
ya navegan sin naufragios
vuelven a su casa alegres
con pescados y cantando.
Y la tierra, y la tierra
ya se esta regenerando
nadie daña mas al mundo
ni lo estan contaminando.
Y nosotros, y nosotros
seguiremos anunciando
la utopia de un gran mundo
que con fuerza esta cambiando.
NATIVES
Ancient Native Timoto-Cuica
I have felt you in the soles
of my feet, I have felt you
in my spirit and also in my
blood.
From the rooster's comb
I have contemplated the
Axaguas tribe and their
eternal dance.
And the children
walking on ahead
now I see them happier
they don't know what crying
means anymore, no longer
familiar with mourning.
And the mothers
now they are collecting
the fruits of the harvest
that the whole village
has seeded.
And the fathers
sailing on without shipwrecks
happily returning home
laden with fish and singing.
And the land
now regenerating itself
nobody harms nor
contaminates
the earth anymore.
And we
we will keep announcing
the utopia of a great world
that is changing powerfully.

FIESTA DE SAN JUAN
Hombres, mujeres,
SAN JUAN’S FIESTA
Men, women
elders and children
Come to this celebration with me.
If the child cries maybe it’s because
she is cold or maybe it is beacuse
we have not had any food.
Give her sardines
and a piece of bread
That the San Juan’s fiesta
has begun!

DIFUNTOS DE NIQUITAO
Si estan alentaos los indios de
Niquitao sera por que el cielo
con fuerza ha brillao
Si estan alentaos los difuntos
de Niquitao sera por que han
visto a sus hijos luchar
por sus cosechas, contra su
pobreza.
Salieron del volcan,llegaron a
Esticho, vieron a Santiago tejiendo
NIQUITAO'S DECEASED
If the deceased of Niquitao are
heartened it is perhaps because
of heaven’s mighty glow, if the deceased
of Niquitao's are heartened, it is perhaps
because they have seen their sons fight
for their harvests, against their poverty.
They departed from the volcano and
arrived at Esticho, they witnessed Santiago
weaving his love upon the crafted loom of
an Indian and laughing, to the sky he rose.
Blanketed the weaver rests upon the fields
of Esticho, light breeze of the mountain
range and the frailejon, sheep's wool,
moonshine and chewing tobacco.
Indigenous song in the Andes
soothing song
the canes of the mountains sound
and soothe the good people of the fields.

INTERESADO
La mano del hombre llega
quiere secar corazones
de orangutanes tranquilos
que descansan entre flores.
Se resguardan como sabia
de un viento contaminado
que a su paso por el mundo
a mas de uno a quemado
viento con muchas mentiras
de un mundo industrializado.
La selva resiste fuerte
la hiedra crece y enreda
al árbol que corta el viento
y da el aire que respiramos.
La esperanza de esta tierra
son los brotes del camino
son los cuentos del caiman
la evolucion larelela
sin tanto mareo
sin tanto mareo.
Interesado en el mundo
interesado en seguir
interesado en dejar
la gran sabana existir.
Interesado en amar
interesado en sanar
y así curar este mundo
de la suciedad.
Interesado en el mundo
interesado en seguir
interesado en dejar
a toda la fauna existir.
Interesado en rehusar
interesado en limpiar
Todo el desecho
que deja la sociedad
Pa’ que el niño no se vea
solo en la pelea.
INTERESTED
The man’s hand arrives
wishing to dry the hearts
of the peaceful orangutans
that rest among flowers.
They hide like the tree’s sap
from a contaminated wind
that, as it passes through
the world, has burned more
than one.
Wind full of the lies of an
industrialized world.
The forest strongly resists.
The ivy grows and wraps
around the tree that cuts
the wind and gives us the
air we breathe.
This land’s hopes are in
the sprouts by the side of
the road, are in the
caiman’s stories
the evolution…
without the confusion
without the confusion.
Interested in the world
interested in continuing
interested in permitting
the great plains to exist.
Interested in loving
interesting in healing
and in this way cure
the world of the filth.
Interested in the world
interested in continuing
interested in permitting
all the fauna to exist.
Interested in reusing
interested in cleaning
all the waste that society
leaves.
So the child does not find
himself alone in this fight.

LA CEBOLLA
La cebolla, la papa y
el ocumo La curuba
y el lulo
No deberían faltarle
Al niño, que necesita
fuerza para buscar
destreza y al mundo
enfrentar.
No debe faltar, un buen
caldito e gallina
Un buen puñado de
buena fe, ya usted lo ve
bueno que es.
Calabaza, alfalfa y tomate
Arroz y aguacate
No deberían faltarle
A las madres,
que necesitan fuerza
Para dar bien la teta
Y al niño inmunizar
Con apego, con amor,
con sabor.
No debe faltar
un buen caldo y vitamina
No debe faltar
un puñado de buena fe
No debe faltar
verdura, cordura, sabrosura.
Patata, ocumo, ñame,
cebolla, guanábana, Naranja,
plátano, Tomate, zanahoria
Melón, parchita, fresa, jojoto
Piña, piña, salud.
THE ONION
The onion, the potato and
the ocumo, the taro and the
lulo,
we should not leave them out
for the boy that needs strength
to develop the skills to face
the world.
No ,no, no ,no, no, no
we should not leave them out
a hearty chicken soup,
We should not leave them out
a solid fistful of goodwill
there you can see
how good it is.
Pumpkin, alfalfa and tomato
rice and avocado we should not
leave them out for the mothers
that need the strength
to proudly breastfeed and
to immunize the child with
affection, with love, with flavor.
We should not leave them out,
a good soup and vitamins,
We should not leave them out,
a fistful of goodwill
We should not leave them out,
vegetables, reason, flavorfulness,
sweet potatoes,taro, yam, onions,
soursop, orange, plantain, tomato,
carrot, cantaloupe, passion fruit,
strawberry, corn on the cob,
pineapple, bon appetite!!

PASAJE
Escucha esto que voy a decir
es sobre algo que he aprendido
y que me ayuda a seguir.
Confiando en mi fuerza
y las estrellas, me lance buscando
mi alma perdida.
Me creí sabio anduve sin temores
caminos escabrosos pasajes hermosos
aprendiendo de mis errores
sachando mi destino e’ rencores
Voy abriendo nuevos caminos
yo no soy caballero del grial
ya no estoy perdido por que
me guia mi paciencia.
Cuando veo vacas pastando
siento alivio de arriero
los tambores estan sonando
con voces alla a lo lejos
Y me acerco, me convidan
un trago e’ miche y con mi
cuatro rasgo en versos
quemando penas al fuego
chispa y llama de remiendo.
PASSAGE
Listen to this that I will
tell you, it is something that
I learned which keeps me
going.
Trusting in my strength and
in the stars, I dove in
lookingfor my lost soul, I
thought I was wise, walked
without fears through arduous
roads, beautiful passages,
learning from my mistakes
weeding out my destiny of
rancors.
I am treading new paths
I am not a knight of the holy
grail, I am no longer lost
because now my patience
guides me.
When I see cows
grazing , I feel the
cattleman’s relief
I can hear the drums beating
and voices in the distance.
I get closer, they offer me a
shot of miche and with my
cuatro I strum in verses,
burning pains of the soul at
the bonfire, spark and flame
of restoration.

amigos vamos a darles alivio.
Que culpa tengo?
si en esta tierra en la que yo he
nacido, los hombres siguen matando
razones por las que yo despierto
y vivo. Y esos caminos por los que
yo he pasado alegremente, ahora
hay gente luciendo calaveras.
Aleja ya por siempre estos
temores, echemos mano a tiempo!!!
ON THE SHELTERED PATH
On the path to oblivion, on the path
to oblivion, we send you sir because
you hurt our race, because you kill
hope. On the path to oblivion, we
send you sir and don’t come back,
I won’t forget.
On my way to progress, on the path
to change for the better, I go my dear
friend, because I am looking for hope,
because I am making the effort.
Always looking for shelter with a
caravan of friends opening new routes.
Following the wind, seeking the smell of
maize, following the wind, looking for
shelter and warmth. I wish I had the
strength to leave this inferno behind
On our way to shelter, on our way
to refuge, let’s go my dear friend.
We have to look for the blanket.
We have to fill the bellies of the
children that play and dance by
the roadside, looking for land to
seed but also hoping to hide
their hopes and dreams from the
scorpion that lurks to hunt them.
On our way to shelter, on our way
to refuge, let’s go my dear friends
let’s give them relief.
Is it my fault? That in this land
upon which I have been born
mankind keeps killing the reasons
for which I wake up and live.
And on those roads on which I
have walked happily there are
now people wearing skulls.
Let’s keep those fears away
forever, let’s give them a hand
before it is late!

Salida

SALIDA
Yo no se lo que te pasa amor
que no encuentras tu salida
sera que esta prohibida amor
por alguien que no te entiende.
Toma mi mano bien fuerte
tu corazon no es prohibido
es lo que tira con fuerza
e ayuda a limpiar maleza.
justo encima, no te rindas.
Porque el alma estara en sombra
fresca como baño en rio, como
sombrita en el sauce sin maquinita
y sin tiempo, como sombrita en el
sauce te dara frescura y tempo.
Si la duda se desvanece amigo
con unguento en el pecho todo se
aliviara, aguantando malos tiempos
como ceniza al viento la tristeza
se ira.
No te reprimas , no te dejes
enloquecer mas, Basta!!
EXIT
I don't know what’s wrong with
you..love, that you can't find
your exit. Could it be that your
escape is prohibited..love?
By someone who does not
understands you.
Grasp my hand strongly, your
heart is not forbidden.
It is that which pulls you strongly
and helps you clear away the weeds.
If doubt vanishes, my friend, like
ashes to the wind sadness departs.
The shadow dissipates like ashes to
the wind and the sun shines just
above, don't give up.
For your soul will be amidst the shadows
fresh like a river swim,
like the small shadow in the willow,
without the little machines and without time,
like the small shadow in the willow,
it will grant you freshness and tempo.
If the doubt vanishes, my friend,
with salve on your chest everything
will get better, holding on, holding
on in bad times, like ashes to the
wind sadness departs.
Don't repress yourself. Don't let
them drive you crazy--that's enough!!

El hombre y el rayo

EL HOMBRE Y EL RAYO
Hace tiempo cayo un rayo
en frente de la explanada
y como yo no vi nada
hoy me estàn lloviendo truenos.
Y siguen cayendo truenos
que cortan como cuchillos
y mi corazón de niño
se esconde del aguacero
se duerme en un agujero
como se duermen los mares
por que siempre viene calma
después de las tempestades...
THE MAN AND THE LIGHTING
Some time ago, lightening fell
in front of the esplanade
and because I did not see a
thing, today thunder rains down
upon me.
And thunder that cuts like a
knife keeps coming down on me.
And my child’s heart is hiding
from the storm, it falls asleep
in a small hole, the same way
that the sea sleeps, because
there is always calm after the
storm...

Pueblo vivo

PUEBLO VIVO
VIBRANT PEOPLE
I want to cross the seas
and to be infinite within the wind.
Even if it means losing my breath,
I want to know what is real and
what is fiction.
I wish our people to be alive,
sustained not by stories,
to emerge free of obstacles
free and in constant movement.
I wish our people to be alive
to voice their thousand new inventions
to emerge from this moment
free and in constant movement.
If the folk songs could help
bring the people to life
If my feet could not doubt and
tread a solid path.
Well I know that you are wise
and you have the power to command
satisfy well your demands like people without doubt because the deeds that we await are
dreams without lament
no more hunger
no more suffering.
Let us not further infect our times
for the times that we await
no longer bring despair.
Let us open a wide path
of reason and understanding.
For the deeds we await
are dreams without lament,
no more hunger
no more suffering.
Let's not further infect our times
for the times we await
bring no more despair.
Let us open a wide path
of reason and understanding.
Yes we can, yes we can...
